Incubus recently signed with Island Records and has been in the studio recording. Their former record deal with Epic ended in 2012. The group said that the new arrangement with Island will allow Incubus to develop new material on their own schedule and using their own vision, which includes non-traditional methods.
“We’re planning on releasing two installments that will total an album, two EPs,” guitarist Mike Einziger told Billboard.com. “We’re hoping to put out the first one in February or March, then the summer. “The recording has been fantastic, it’s been amazing.”
The Almost Acoustic Christmas show was the group’s first public show in a year.
As is so often the case, the recording has been going smoothly because the So Cal band, without a label home since their deal with Epic ended in 2012, has been working on their own schedule and with little pressure.
Of the new single, “Trust Fall,” said: “It’s pretty indicative of where we are now. It’s pretty ambitious,” adding, “Most of the music we’ve written is high energy.”
Einziger went on to say, “(But) we’ve written our slowest song, but also our heaviest song… This is what the band sounds like in 2014, 2015.”
