Including three Texas dates, Cleveland shock-metal group Mushroomhead will be busy this month, with a total of 17 tour stops in January alone.
Known for their amazing live performances and always-intriguing masks, Mushroomhead has been pushing the envelope both visually and sonically since the group’s formation in 1993.
One of the most popular artists on last year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Mushroomhead is currently touring in support of their 2014 release “The Righteous & The Butterfly,” which cracked the Top 20 for the first time in the group’s two-decade history. The album went on to reach No. 5 on the Billboard Rock Chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Hard Rock Chart.
Well-known for their innovative masks and costumes, Mushroomhead have been performing incognito since the beginning. The band was meant to be a side-project so they wore masks to go unrecognized, but after only a few shows they developed a rabid and loyal fan base in Cleveland. The band’s merging of metal, atmospheric elements, rock, and theatrics mixed with a punk DIY attitude has inspired numerous other bands over the years, though Mushroomhead is still at it and, as recent record sales numbers show, more successful than ever.
The band will play Houston’s Scout Bar on Tuesday, January 20; San Antonio’s Kapone’s Live on Wednesday, January 21; and at Trees in Dallas on Thursday, January 22.
