Carl Barât & The Jackals have premiered “A Storm Is Coming,” a new single is taken from the band’s highly anticipated debut album “Let It Reign,” which is due February 17th.
Carl Barât and his new band The Jackals come to America following their album’s release.
“Let It Reign” was recorded in LA and features guest musicians, such as Beastie Boys percussionist Alfredo Ortiz on Glory Days. “I actually started making this record solo, but the long and short of it is I just didn’t like my own company,” says Carl, adding that he soon realized that he wanted to get a new band together.
Rather than call up some old mates to recruit for The Jackals, Carl decided to post a few ads online asking if there were any likeminded souls out there who wanted to try their luck at playing with him. The response was overwhelming, with thousands of people replying.
Carl adds “I was lucky, because I found a bunch of people who genuinely fit together as a gang.”
The group’s debut single “Glory Days” which is in memoriam of the 306 British and Commonwealth soldiers shot for desertion during World War I.
“Some of these men were blameless due to severe psychological trauma, not cowardice, that rendered them physically unable to cope with the horrific scenes they had witnessed,” the group said through a press release.
Other war-themed titles on the album include “Victory Gin,” “Summer In The Trenches” and “War Of The Roses.”
The video for “Glory Days” is directed by Roger Sargent, whose photographs were collected in the Libertines biography “Bound Together,” and whose 2011 film “There Are No Innocent Bystanders” told the story of the band’s 2010 reunion.
