There’s a Toronto 3-piece that is turning heads worldwide. They’ve had several high-profile appearances on Fox News, NBC and even some festival appearances but you may or may not know who they are. I’m proud to say that we’ve got that answer for you today! Nikki Whitehead, Dylan Lauzon and Nate Baylor, collectively known as Nikki’s Wives have emerged into the spotlight with their debut single, “Ghosts.” Once you hear it once, it will be stuck in your head. It’s just the type of nostalgic alt-pop that we’ve all been hoping for since it’s slow decline in the late 90s. With focus on past relationships, good and bad… you can expect to hear some really heavy lyrics and an overall melancholy vibe. While “Ghosts” is anything but upbeat, it’s just as catchy as any song on the radio today and will have no problem getting stuck in your head. The proof is in the pudding as my wife and I heard it for the first time 2 days ago and find ourselves humming it still! The band is gearing up to release their debut EP For E-V-E-R in early 2016 and it promises to be one of the most-anticipated of the year, without a doubt. “Ghosts” has a very melancholy vibe to it and is designed to connect with listeners on a personal level. It features subtle percussion, a chilling echoing effect and some of the most gorgeous vocals I’ve heard in a track like this in years! The theme of this track is dwelling on the good times during a past relationship, hoping and praying that they’ll eventually fade. Paranoia sinks in as Whitehead says she swears she can hear her former lover through the walls and that she keeps telling herself that he’ll fade away. Check out the lyric video below and be sure to drop the band a “like” on Facebook to keep up to date!
